Yoga Hiking Biking Bali Adventure

13 Days    Oct 21 – Nov 2, 2017

Welcome to and experience of a lifetime on the Island of the Gods!

Join us for two weeks of Yoga in beautiful peaceful settings
embraced by tropical warm air on the magical island of Bali.

Come experience this unique magical island with over 20,000 Hindu and Buddhist temples, welcoming smiles and people expressing their devotion daily with offerings and artful creativity. (Last summer when in Bali I saw a gas station looking like a temple and schoolgirls carrying devotional offerings with flowers and fruits on their heads to a temple on the way to school – a little different than home!)

Come explore the natural beauty of Bali with high volcanic mountains, terraced hillsides and miles of beaches.  Hike through mountain villages to hidden waterfalls and temples. Climb to the top of a 5,000′ volcano to watch the sunrise. Bike from the foot of 6,000′ Mt Batukaru down to the sea past rice paddies, gardens and smiling villagers. Swim in clean tropical water with coral fishes, and if you are lucky…. turtles and dolphins. Stay in exclusive Yoga retreats with comfortable lodging and traditional Balinese cabins.

Feast on a delicious array of fresh, nourishing foods, including many of the local specialties with a mix of Indian, Malaysian and Chinese flavors (vegetarian and non-vegetarian).

Indulge with soothing Balinese massages, relax by the pool, or on the beach and savor the magic of this sacred island.

And best of all, do Yoga in open air pavilions protected from the sun with views of rice paddies, mountains and sea while being embraced by warm silky air, fragrant tropical flowers, the soothing sound of waves in a peaceful and sacred environment.

To help you experience the life of Bali fully with all its diversity we have chosen three different Yoga Retreats; the first in Ubud, the second up in the mountains and the third by the sea.

The first three days we will go up to the mountains and stay at Bali Eco Stay
to recover from a long journey in a peaceful and beautiful mountain setting.

BaliEcoStay offers a perfect place to do yoga as we will have the whole retreat for our group and stay in handcrafted traditional Balinese bungalows with plenty of time to relax and absorb the mountain life. Our prize-winning eco retreat is located in the center of Bali on the slopes of Mt Batukaru (6,500′), where rice paddies meet the jungle and you can still see the sea.  Here you can experience a rich Balinese village culture, in a beautiful remote spot surrounded by mountain-fed streams, cascading waterfalls and spectacular views over the tree tops to the ocean.

There will also be plenty of time to swim in the natural streams and waterfalls nearby, get a massage, or relax with a book at this peaceful mountain retreat. Each day between our morning and evening Yoga sessions we will take guided hikes past rice fields through the rainforest to hidden waterfalls and temples. And also take a guided bike ride around the mountain and another down to the sea. (They will drive us back!)

Our meals are all served in our Kupe Kupe organic Balinese restaurant with food grown in their local organic gardens.

The following four days we will stay at this beautiful, welcoming Yoga Retreat owned by singer Michael Franti located a few miles outside of Ubud, the cultural and spiritual heartland of Bali. At Soulshine you will be able to enjoy invigorating morning Yoga sessions in a very well-equipped Yoga pavilion overlooking terraced rice fields and relax deeply in the afternoon with restorative Yoga midst warm tropical and soothing air.

During the day and some evenings we will have time for some excursions and explorations.  We will bike from Mt Kintamani down to Ubud experiencing the colorful village life of Bali passing through rolling hills lush countryside, terraced rice fields and temples.  We will also visit the sacred Monkey Forest, spend an evening watching a Kechak Fire Trance Dance, and give you time to explore the hundreds of art stores in Ubud or just relax by the pool with a refreshing drink. Your breakfasts and one welcome dinner are included during our stay at Soulshine. All lunches and two dinners we get the opportunity to find on our own and sample among a wide variety of inexpensive restaurants in a very touristy, but fun and colorful downtown of Ubud.

Villa Boreh

Villa Boreh has a few kayaks available that you can use for free and paddle out to meet the dolphins at sunrise. They also have snorkel gear that we can use for free to explore our reef nearby.  Or you can just swim or relax by the pool surrounded by a lush garden and enjoy the view of the sea. One evening we will be entertained by a Balinese dance performance and you can also take extra Balinese dance lessons for a small fee.  At Villa Boreh we will offer you a complimentary one-hour massage in their exclusive spa with oils made locally from the palm trees in our garden. During our last four days in Bali we will stay at a tropical paradise nestled in a quiet fishing village in the north of Bali, away from the hustle and bustle of the south. Our Villa Boreh Yoga Retreat sits right on the water with our own black sandy beach colored by the volcanic mountain. Here we will do morning yoga with the sunrise over the water and relax deeply in the afternoon with restoratives and the soothing sound of the waves. One day we will take an early morning hike up to the top of Batur (~5,000′) to enjoy the sun rising over the stunning Balinese landscape. The hike starts at 2:30pm and is a half day adventure. Another day we will take a four hour jungle trek to a waterfall; the biggest in Bali, yet virtually unknown.

Our amazing meals are served fresh in the open air by the beach, and some dinners even by candlelight, next to the gentle surf.

Check out other activities that are not included, but are available if you would like extra adventure.

Nov 1 – You return to the airport in Denpassar to fly home
revitalized, your heart warmed by the spirit of Bali and your soul renewed with sacred experiences.

…You can join Ingela to Gili Air, for an extra 4-day vacation

Gili Air is a two hour boat ride from Padangbai, south of Villa Boreh. It’s a tiny island near Lombok. Gili Air has no cars or motorcycles, instead you will be picked up by a “decorated” horse and buggy that takes you to your destination bungalow.

The island is surrounded by white beaches, fertile coral reefs, and turtles. It’s a mecca for snorkeling, diving and total relaxation. Gili Air also has more sun and less rain than Bali.

Let me know if you would like to join me there for four extra days. I can give you suggestions for places to stay and which boats are reliable. There is an open air Yoga studio in the middle of the island that you can walk to from any beach within 15-30 minutes, and take classes if it’s not booked by a retreat. Or maybe we can just practice together on the beach informally for fun!
