  • In this teacher training course, you will learn the basic foundation to build on towards being an effective, competent, and inspiring teacher. 
  • This course will focus on the basic asanas in the introductory level of the Iyengar system and prepare you for the first level of certification. 
  • Our Teacher Training course is also for you who wish to refine your current teaching experience to a higher standard of excellence. 

In this Teacher Training Learn to:

  • Communicate with clarity to help students transform in body and spirit.
  • Sharpen your observation skills and learn about different bodies and their needs. 
  • Manually adjust students to bring about balance and positive changes. 
  • Modify yoga asanas for common injuries.
  • Learn the use of props to help students who are weak or lack the flexibility to effectively improve their practice.
  • Learn the art of sequencing to help students progress with ease physically and internally. 


  • You will be given monthly assignments to help you deepen your knowledge and understanding of the basic Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and how they relate to your yoga practice and daily life. 
  • Create sequences for beginning and intermediate students.

Ingela Abbott is a certified senior Iyengar Yoga instructor and the founding director of Yoga Northwest in Bellingham, WA. She began studying Iyengar Yoga in 1971 and has taught Yoga for 40 years.
Ingela is one of the National Iyengar Yoga Assessors and has mentored and certified 100s of teachers in the last 25 years. She is passionate in sharing GuruJi’s great teachings with her deep sincerity, gratitude and love.

A minimum of 3 years of Iyengar Yoga, committed to a minimum of 1 hour of daily home practice with monthly assignments in Yoga Philosophy. 
“Strong” students and teachers from other methods of Yoga are also welcome.
